Lanlan Zhang
A few months ago, I had the pleasure to lunch with one of my past students, Lanlan Crystal Zhang. I still have very fond memories of Lanlan’s time at SNA. She was always very friendly towards her classmates and teachers and would never hesitate to help a friend in need. I was also very impressed with her dancing abilities, earning herself a monthly income by giving evening or weekend lessons in dance studios.
Lanlan graduated from SNA in 2019 and went to the University of Geogia in Athens (UGA) where she enrolled in the Double Dawgs program, which required her to complete her Bachelor’s in Advertising and Master’s in Integrated Advertising and Public Relation in five years or less. Due to the covid pandemic, Lanlan returned to China after her first semester and continued her studies in China taking courses at Liverpool University in the Suzhou Industrial Park. While in China from 2020 to 2021, Lanlan also helped SNA’s Economics Department develop the current textbooks used by its AP Macroeconomic/ Microeconomics students.
Lanlan returned to UGA in the fall of 2021 and managed to complete her Bachelor’s and Master’s in four years instead of the required five. On top of excelling in her studies, Lanlan also modeled for The Agency, participating in seven-eight fashion shows per year where she paraded in clothing designed by UGA students.
After graduating from the Double Dawgs program in December of 2023, Lanlan decided to continue her studies at UGA and will start a PHD in Journalist and Mass Communication this September. Her hard work earned her an assistantship from UGA worth $13,700 annually. While waiting to begin her PHD this fall, Lanlan spent the winter in Singapore and took graduate courses at the prestigious National University of Singapore. Her former teachers at SNA wish her the best of luck and I personally see her as president of her own media company sometime in the future.
